Get Good Buy

For some people having a home theatre means simply having a big TV, others need a big TV and a DVD player, then there are those who need both of the above plus surround sound and Blu-ray.

Some want a good picture and good sound, others feel that the sound needs to exceed what you would hear in a theatre. So, how can you decide on the best home theatre for you?

The first thing that you should do is visit a retail store and look at some home theatre system in person. This will give you a better idea of what you like and dislike. After looking at the systems in person you should then make a list of what you like and would want from your home theatre system.

Do a little research online. You can look for reviews and ideas from other people who have done the legwork for you already. Then start putting together a plan for what you want, making sure that it fits the size of the room that you will be using, remembering that in the case of home theater, there is such a thing as too big. Dont overdo it, make reasonable decisions, but dont be cheap. You can find deals if you look for them, but going cheap means that you always get what you pay for.

Be sure to get all the proper cables and going wireless might be in your best interest for ease of set-up. In the old days, going wireless would mean having to go well out of most peoples budgets, but the technology has gotten much more affordable and much more mainstream, it really cuts down on the hassle associated with setting up all the speakers. The cables are important, especially if you are going for a high def set-up. You need to be sure to get the right HDMI cables. These can be tricky, but shouldn’t be for most people. Remember, unless you are a tech head, you wont be able to tell the difference from one cable to another. Just pick something in the middle and you will be okay. Nothing too expensive and make sure to avoid the cheapest of the lot.

Filed Under (MP3 Players) by Zeeman Haus

WMA as opposed to MP3 formats. Really, this depends on the individual a lot believe it or not. Not too long ago I was trying to figure out the difference myself and I just couldn’t come up with any clear answers. I mean really, the format is the difference, but what does that mean exactly?

The WMA attractiveness comes from Microsoft’s claim that this format is the most accurate audio format available to date. The Windows Media Audio (WMA) format is definitely bulky enough to back up this claim. Recordings of the same clip in WMA format will nearly always be larger than those of MP3s. Microsoft has tried to make up for this my having the WMA format play at a higher bitrate than MP3s. That is- make it go faster. A lot of people still aren’t convinced.

MP3 or MPEG3 stands for Moving Picture Experts Group-Layer 3, so yeah, MP3 works much better for marketing purposes. The idea behind MP3s was to make the files themselves smaller than WMAs. They do this by eliminating the audio range that has been deemed inaudible by the human ear. This greatly reduces the space needed for the audio file and enables more music or audio files to be stored. Currently MP3 files are used mostly in MP3 players for purchased and pirated- amen- backed-up music files.

Looking at both WMA and MP3 files on the same audio player you have to wonder which one will sound better and the answer is, it’s hard to tell. A lot of this depends on your player’s capability. WMAs sound better than MP3s at the same bitrate, but the average person will not be able to tell the difference unless they really concentrate. So that’s no help in deciding things at all. So you can eliminate bitrate differential from our argument here.

MP3 files are smaller by an average of 1/3 and that is an advantage to the format. On the smaller hard drives that came with the original digital music players, MP3 files were preferred because you could store more of them on a device. Now, this wouldn’t seem like as big of a deal, but consumers have grown used to MP3s and they have become the portable music standard. WMAs are used on computers and in a lot of games for Windows where hard drive space and processing speed are not really issues.

WMAs will play on “MP3″ players, mostly. You have to remember when music players first came out, space was limited. Because of the limited space, smaller files were preferred. The size comparison of the files has not changed any, but the size of the hard drives has. The thing is though; everyone is already used to dealing with MP3s, so stick with what you know.

Converting WMA to MP3 or vice-versa is a step you can take to make sure all of your audio formats are the same. The software for these conversions is easy enough to find, though depending on the file size and your PC’s processor can take a little time. Remember though, the more you convert the worse the audio quality will become. There will always be a bit of quality loss when converting.

Taking a look at WMAs versus MP3 formats, I’d say go with the MP3 if you’re just an everyday person. There’s no point in using the added room that WMAs have built into them unless you’re a musician or otherwise wish to alter the original format. So it looks like MP3 are going to be the standard for music players for a long time.

There are many reasons for buying digital projectors including cost per image area. A projector enables the viewer to have a vast image size, however there are a few limitations which can effect the image quality. Things to compare when buying a digital projector are brightness, resolution and contrasrt ratio. There are many different types of projector available and finding one that best suits you is not always easy.

* The different types of projectors include: * Home Theatre/ Cinema Projectors * LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Projectors * Digital Projectors * Conference Room Projectors * Portable Multimedia Projectors

Home cinema projectors provide home entertainment and can be used for lots of purposes including playing movies, DVDs, video games, music plus much more. Most home cinema projectors use DLP (Digital Light Processing) to create a smooth high video performance, with little pixelation and high contrast ratios.

LCD Projectors provide clearer, sharper images than most of their counterparts, they create images by shining light through three small LCD panels which are very vibrant and sharp in colour. LCD projectors can be used for movies at home aswell as for presentations. Ideally they need to be used in dimly lit rooms to produce quality images.

Digital projectors are available in two types, LCD and DLP. They allow the user to use files from their PC and also allow internet viewing to be very effective. One important factor to look for is the amount of lumens a projector has, this refers to the quantity of different aspects of light that are available at any one time.

Conference Room Projectors are mainly used to give presentations and reports in conference rooms mostly. They are used where high resolution graphics are necessary. Ideal for medical presentations or with high detailed artwork.

Portable Multimedia projectors are able to produce noise free presentations with fairly accurate images and are generally very light for ease of transportation.

The main Keypoints to focus on when buying digital projectors are:

-Resolution- refers to the pixel density of the projected images, Projectors have two resolutions, the natural resolution and the maximum resolution. The natural resolution is the standard pixel size of the image. The maximum resolution is the maximum capability of the projector. Digital projectors should be able to accept resolutions of 800-600, 1024-768 or 1280-1024, however it is the natural resolution of the projector that is important. The higher the natural resolution of the projector the greater the colour density image.

-Lumens- refer to the brightness of the image. Simply put the higher the lumens the brighter the projection. They are usually lower for home theatre models than for office models. Screen size will affect how many lumens will be needed. If the contrast ratio is low however, your image will look washed out. Lumens typically range from less than a 1000- least expensive but low light output, needs to be used in a dark or dimlylight room. To 3000+ extremely bright and expensive. Anywhere between 1000-2000 would be sufficient for most tasks.

-Throw Distance- refers to the maximum amount of distance your projector can project. Most digital projectors will have a ample throw distance for most home and conference use. To find out what this is go to the projectors manufacturers website.

-Contrast Ratio- refers to the difference between the white level (light) and black level (dark). Digital projectors with the higher ratios will have the most well-defined pictures.

-Lamp Life- the average lamp life for digital projectors is between 1500 and 3000 hours.

When buying degital projectors it is worth considering price, design, weight, aswell as any extra features different models may have.

Many popular brands include Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Epson aswell as many others.

If you have looked around the internet at all,you have seen the high prices of subwoofers and may not be pleased with what you are seeing. Especially if you are on a budget like myself. These days it is more important than ever to save money on everything possible.

The Onkyo SKE204 Subwoofer is a good buy according to the price and the specs of this speaker but let’s look at some other information on these speakers. Not everyone has the same opinion on things so I will just put the facts out there and allow you to decide on your own.

First off as we already know the Onkyo skw204 Bass Reflex Powered Subwoofer Black is very reasonably priced for it’s specs. It claims to put out some great deep bass and allow you to enjoy the experience of a subwoofer without paying an arm and a leg. I have looked over this claim and have found a few mixed feelings - as I said different people… different opinions.

There was one user that said he loved the system and it had the ability to put out high quality bass without that “one note” sound that many other liked-priced subwoofers. As you know there is almost nothing more annoying than thinking you have a great buy and then finding out that even thought you saved some money you won’t be getting the experience you had hoped for.

There seems to be a bit of a problem with this speakers when it is cranked up loud. The grill and box rattle if the volume is too high - I’m not sure what the user considered “too high” but from all of the other feedback I am going to say you would have to crank it up pretty loud to have this problem. If you are interested in a normal movie or music experience, like in the theaters you should be safe. On the other hand though - if you are interested in really crankin up the party - you might want to invest in another speakers that won’t rattle when it is turned up so high.

Do you have a lot of wires that you need to run near this speaker? If you do that may be a problem since the speaker is pretty sensitive to other wires that run nearby or over it’s wires. Once again it’s a preference thing,if you don’t have wires to run over it you do not have to worry about this con of the Onkyo skw204 Bass Reflex Powered Subwoofer Black.

All in all this is a great speaker for the price, even if you are on a budget you should be able to afford it.

Since you are looking for front home theater speakers I am going to guess that you want to buy separate speakers instead of satellite speakers. Satellite speakers come in packs that are anywhere from 3 to 8 speakers. Satellite speakers may be a better option than just buying front home theater speakers. This is because you would be able to be sure that the speakers would work together properly.

There are a couple of things that should be considered while you are looking for the right speakers for you. Now let’s take a look at those and then you will be able to make a more informed decision.

#1 Warranty

A very important factor that you want to look at is the warranty that the manufacturer offers. This warranty can ( in my own opinion ) show you a lot about the quality of the speaker system or speaker.

While there are many different warranty ranges on speakers the most common warranty length is 3 months longer. Anything less than 3 months - I would pass. The warranty does depend on the company and you will have to look at each speaker’s warranty individually.

#2 Fit and Placement

Another factor in your next speaker purchase would be the placement and fit of the speakers. Even if you have the best sounding speakers you can not enjoy them if they do not fit in your entertainment center or if they can’t go where you wanted them to be placed.

At times we get really excited and we don’t think about this factor. You need to remember this one however. When buying online, the website that you buy from should have the dimensions of the speakers and you will be able to check them easily.

Now that you know a couple of things that will help in your next speakers purchase, make sure that you read through some reviews on whatever speaker or speakers system in which you are interested. Get the best advice on buying.

Filed Under (Digital Camera) by Marianna Bynes

Advances in modern science ushered in a wave of new technology that the world can enjoy. In the old days, photographers used actual bulbs for camera flash. Only photographers carry cameras because lugging them around is not really fashionable at that time. Discoveries and development of cameras produced the digital camera, wherein taking pictures is not so cumbersome anymore. It is less expensive because you can see the images before printing them so you could choose what to actually print. The images could also be uploaded to your computer for storage and further manipulations. These days, it not unusual to carry a compact digital camera. Its perfect for capturing those random wacky moments with your friends.

The task now is to find a cheap digital camera. Can you even find one? Because of the features that are offered by digital cameras, they are often costly. That is enough to make any person have second thoughts about buying one. But for someone who considers photography a passion, affordability is relative. You just have to set a budget before buying a camera. You can find a cheap digital camera that is just right for you if you look hard enough. Do not buy one that is more than you can afford, even if it has a lot of features. Make sure that you can actually use these features so that you can get your moneys worth.

To find the right cheap digital camera, think about your lifestyle and the use of your camera. Do you plan to spend a lot of time taking pictures or do you just want something small that can fit in your bag? If you are still a beginner, do not buy a high-end professional camera just for the assurance of image quality and zoom performance. Instead, buy a cheap digital camera that is compact but has powerful features and easy to carry around. Explore the basics before cashing out on expensive professional cameras.

Though these are very important points to ponder when buying a cheap digital camera, you also have to consider the performance and features of your camera. Check the megapixels, zoom capability, image quality, type of media and battery. These are actually features that digital cameras highlight in advertisements.

- Megapixels -They are not the be-all and end-all of digital cameras. Salespeople like to throw this information to you because it promises clearer images. But this is just one factor that comprises your digital camera. You have to check the megapixels quality. Most image sensors can only find certain hues like red, blue and green. They cant detect all three at the same time.

- Zoom capability ” You have seen advertisements like 10x digital zoom or 5x zoom capability. While it is true, advertisers often forget to highlight optical zoom, which is actually more important. The difference is that with digital zoom, your image gets broken into small pixels if you enlarge it on your computer. If your camera has high optical zoom, you would not see pixelated images if you enlarge the image.

- Image quality - Image quality is perhaps one of the most important aspect for every photographer whether they are newbies or professionals. Check the quality of your image after you take a picture. Is it fuzzy or pixelated? Sharpness of colors is very important.

- Type of Media - Since we are talking about digital photo imaging, memory is very important. This is the memory of your digital camera. Find a memory card or stick that is compatible with your other equipment so it is easier to upload your images.

- Type of Battery - Different photographers have different camera needs. For example, field photographers need batteries with longer stand-by time compared to those working in studios. See to it that your cheap digital camera does not require expensive batteries or that it allows rechargeable batteries.

These points would help you decide on what kind of cheap digital camera to buy. Like what was mentioned earlier, affordability is relative for the passionate photographer. Find your niche by choosing the best but cheap digital camera.

The Playstation 3 is getting more popular than ever because of so many people changing from Xbox to Playstation 3 due to the kind of gaming strength it has. Probably the best of the features of this system is the ability to have PS3 game downloads received online for use with your system.

Just think how many gamers want to know exactly where these PS3 downloads are. This is why we thought that it was time for a guide to be made on this subject of game downloads.

Do not trust the free websites for PS3 downloads. Oh you will see them advertised with all sorts of fancy ad banners and such but they are more aggravation than they are worth for the most part.

You can catch a computer virus or download spyware from these sites. Since the files don’t get scanned before they appear on the website, there isn’t a way to know what quality of files you are getting.

Slow speeds downloading and files that won’t work at all are some other problems you will have on sites like these. You wait sometimes for hours on end for these downloads to finally finish just to realize they are corrupt or won’t work for some other reason. All that wasted time expecting to have a fun game to play!

It is recommended that you join a website that specializes in PS3 game downloads. You pay to belong and there is a process for logging in then you can get the downloads whenever you choose. Monitoring is done on these company created sites to make certain no spyware or viruses get into the games. You also get fast download speeds and games that operate correctly.

You will be required to purchase a membership, but this is usually not too large of a fee. You will in return get lifetime access for about fifty dollars. You get to sign in as much and at anytime you want and there will not be another charge. You will then be able to access and unlimited amount of files including things like games, music, and movies that are designed for the Playstation 3.

Avoid the types of websites that keep charging you endlessly monthly fees for your membership or have the pay per download type fees. Although this may sound like a great deal, it is more economical to have the one-time only fee type membership. Over the years it is just less of an expense.

You will get the information needed to take the games and play them on your PS3 on these websites too. If you need some kind of software you can access on the sites too.

Downloading with your new membership will quickly become your new past time and you may wind up addicted! Every time you turn on your computer you could have a new game to play. Let the games begin!
