Video games for the Mac are becoming more common in the marketplace. They’re available in any gaming category you might want, including action, adventure, role-playing, sports and kid games, and Macintosh offers a vibrant and diverse gaming experience. The newest versions of the Macintosh also offer an application which is easy for users to install and lets them run Windows games on their Mac computers. Previous versions of the Mac weren’t as game friendly, but current Macs have made it easier to port many video games. The Macintosh, whether it’s running the Mac OS or a system that runs Windows, provides performance that is about the same as that of similarly-equipped Windows PCs.

When it comes to creating video games for the Macintosh, the ideal situation is for them to be developed at the same time as the Windows version of the games. This allows the original programmers to be available for questions or any troubleshooting that may be needed while creating the games. It also usually allows the Windows and Mac versions to be simultaneously released to the marketplace. But although this is ideal, it is something that only rarely occurs. Only a few companies create games for Mac and Windows computers at the same time.

Instead of this ideal situation, what usually happens is that the high budget games that can be played on the Mac are actually originally created for Microsoft Windows. These games are then later ported over to the Mac system by one of the few porting house companies that are out there. Two early video games, Microsoft Flight Simulator and SimCity, were converted to Mac in 1986 and 1988. One well-known exception to the rule was Myst, from 1993, which was first developed on the Macintosh and then imported to Windows a year later.

The majority of Macintosh games are not developed at the same time as the original Windows versions, so the rollout of Mac games generally lags bethind that of the Windows version, often by several months. That’s how it usually happens with most high-end games that require an extensive amount of time to play and feature great graphics. But there are many companies out there today that now develop original Mac games that are more casual. These games have simple graphics and can be played in short bursts of time, like downloadable mini games. Many are available in various genres, including puzzle games, hidden object games, jigsaw games, arcade games and other types.

One thing to keep in mind when you’re looking for Mac video games is the fact that brick and mortar stores don’t have enough shelf space to justify stocking a full line of Macintosh video games. Macintosh has just a small share of the computer market, and it doesn’t make sense for these stores to stock a lot of Macintosh games. But searching on Google for websites that are related to Macintosh games is easy.

Mac users have another choice - to play PC games using a Windows-based operating system on their Macintosh. This can be done in a few different ways. Since Intel processors began being used in Mac computers, users have been able to run the Macintosh operating system at the same time they are running Windows and without needing to reboot their computer. Several free applications are available on the Internet for Macintosh users to set this up on their computers.

The gaming experience on a Macintosh is every bit as exciting and varied as on any PC, no whether you are playing a video game through Windows or an exclusive Mac game on the OS.

So there is an iPhone virus out there. And it was created by Charlie Miller, the head analyst at Independent Security Evaluators, to show the big boys at Apple that they had better get their act together before something much more dangerous comes along. Because if a good-guy programmer can find the chinks in the iPhone’s armor, then what will the bad guys find? And how can you prevent yourself from future infection?

Mr. Miller learned that through the use of a malformed SMS message (a simple text message), the iPhone becomes confused and, in this confused state, it will process data within the message improperly, which would allow the iPhone and all data stored in it to become vulnerable to a remote hijacking. Through this window, a remote hijacker could gain complete control over your phone. They could watch you type text messages, input bank passwords, type emails, and so on. Not good.

If a hacker skilled in smartphones were to try their hand at this, millions of iPhones would be at risk. Its even possible that an infected phone could be taken over by a hijacker who could install malware that could turn the phone’s camera and microphone on and start recording. Sounds like something out of Mission Impossible, right? Think again.

What can you do? Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do about it right now except ask Apple and AT&T to hurry up and address the problem. In the end, because of the large number of iPhones and smartphones out there in the wild, there will be an increasing number of threats to your information. The only thing we can tell you is to protect your device. Stay up-to-date on potential threats and be sure to provide the proper armor to your iphones and other mobile devices.

A baby of IBM Software Group, Lotus Notes is not a newcomer to the world of client-server collaborative applications. Although Lotus Notes was originally designed as a simplistic database for contact management, it is today a highly modifiable application on IBM’s Lotus Domino server which can customize and perform a myriad of contemporary tasks such as blogging, RSS aggregating, systems generation for customer relationship management (CRM) and help desk as well as simultaneous and multi-party instant messaging. Although Lotus Notes has its mob of critics from some Mac users, it continues to be a favorite application for many businesses because of its features and advantages.

One of the many great features of Mac-based Lotus Notes is that it runs in the open source Eclipse Framework, which means that there are nearly unlimited application development opportunities such as dragging and dropping of folders, instead of just files. The user can replicate unread marks and has the ability to edit an attachment and save the changes back to an email.

The application is also fortified with a bundle of rigid security features geared at eliminating and decreasing the volume of virus attacks the computer gets subjected to. In addition, Mac-based Lotus Notes is designed by IBM with the following unique design features in mind:

* Handy Dialog Boxes. There are two types that stand out. One is a dialog box for properties which routinely recognizes the kind of text selected along with the available working options. Another is a dialog box for formatting which, unlike many Windows applications, does not require the user to close it in order to select new text, apply formatting changes or open another new dialog box.

* When it comes to tables, they can be formatted as tabbed interfaces as part of form design or by users within mail messages (or in rich-text fields in applications). This provides users the ability to provide tab-style organization to documents, similar to popular tab navigation in most web portals, etc.

* Deletions. Say hello to convenient document deletions. Other applications often burden you with the task of searching for then deleting the same file stored in various folders, and these can be cumbersome tasks when you are on a tight schedule. With Mac-based Lotus Notes, all that’s needed from you is one deletion. The application then takes care of simultaneously scrapping similarly named documents stored in different folders.

* Extendible and Seamless Integration at Reduced Cost. Mac-based Lotus Notes is easy to install and integrate with other applications, doing away with the high aggregate cost of numerous one-use applications. It gives users a single platform to enjoy a variety of work options such as sending, receiving and managing emails, as well as creating fax messages in the same manner as emails. These extended faxing capabilities have already assisted many businesses in streamlining their delivery and receipt of communication and files. Presently though, the use of mail-dependent fax servers to connect to the customer relationship management and enterprise resource planning applications yet has to be realized, and these deficiencies are most likely to be addressed and included in the future releases of Mac-based Lotus Notes.

Thanks to Mac-based Lotus Notes, you and your business can enjoy enhanced speed, efficiency and productivity. Of course, the advantages mentioned in this article are not all. Once you begin to use the application, you’ll discover a lot more.
